Inspired by the boys

Inspired by the boys

Two weeks in an office full of boys and I'm already slipping into a somewhat lazy attitude towards my outfits, trying to avoid over-dressing to an office full of jeans, trainers and t-shirts and all I can think off is a comfy pair of trainers and a warm sweatshirt. I'm a little obsessed with this sweatshirt from Whistles that will be the perfect fit for my slightly more relaxed office wardrobe that is slowly coming together as days go by. I really can't say no to a comfy sweatshirt teamed with a basic skirt and trainers for a bit of a sporty and casual look. I'm really starting to enjoy the no-fuss attitude to work attire in my new office, it's such a relief for someone like me who's not really good at planning outfits in advance to know that I'm not stepping into a giant fashion show every morning when I get into the office. It's a big cheer for lazy and comfy dressing at work!

Basic comfort

I'm still getting my head around things at work  and getting used to a more relaxed style of dressing. It's certainly a lot easier to fit in to an environment full of jeans and t-shirt wearing guys than an environment of aspiring fashionistas and I'm happy that I can dress up or down depending on my mood and know that no one would really notice the difference on most days.
Today I tried out this asymmetric cotton skirt from &Other Stories  and decided to keep it simple with a t-shirt and an oversized cardigan. I have to admit I have silly fashion quirk (one of many!) by which I set myself a silly rule that bottoms always have to be in a dark shade, I have no logical explanation to how this quirk came about but when I saw this skirt in store I spent about 30 minutes trying to rationalise why I can't wear this skirt, the problem was I actually really loved it but couldn't get over my strange quirk of only wearing dark bottoms so I left it in store and when I got back home I couldn't stop thinking about how much I liked it so a few days later I decided to go back and try it on again and eventually decided to get it and try it at home, in a safe environment where I can make better judgement. Luckily it was still looking great when I tried it at home and I decided to keep it. I thought it's a great basic item that can also probably work well dressed up as well and hopefully help me get over this strange fashion related quirk.

Beauty bites

It's been a long time since I treated myself to some beauty products, it was mainly because I realised that I developed a tendency to hoard beauty and make up products which I absolutely had no use for so I decided to scale down and used up all what I had and could use but this weekend I needed a little bit of a pick me-up and decided to treat myself to some products I'll actually have use for.
It started because I decided I needed a nail polish in a very specific shade of grey and after a long search I found exactly the right shade by Models Own, I'm a little obsessed with grey nail polishes but always went for darker shades so it was time for a chance and I absolutely love this colour, it's perfect if you want to wear a grey nail polish but don't want to go for a dark shade.
Since I was already in the beauty department I decided to try out Eyeko's famous Skinny Liquid Eyeliner. I use a black eyeliner on a daily basis and have very specific preferences to my ideal eyeliner, my biggest problem is that often the eyeliners I like the most are discontinued which means I have to try and find the next 'perfect' eyeliner. This time I decided to try out the Skinny Liquid eyeliner which everyone keeps raving about. I have to admit this one was not easy to master and I'm still trying to get used to using it, it's slightly thicker than eyeliners I used before and I still find it hard to hold the wand steady enough to keep my lines as thin as I like them but it usually takes me a while to get used to a new eyeliner until I manage to draw the perfect line (I have wto left hands!!!) .
Last but not least is the Caudalie Beauty Elixir, this was the real treat and a product which I wanted to try for a long time. This one is the 30ml bottle which is great if you just want to try it out. I've been using it for the last two days and since I hate foundation and rarely wear any I can easily take it with me everywhere and spritz a little bit when my face needs a little bit of a boost. I think it's the sort of product I would class as a 'nice to have' rather than a 'must have', it did make my skin feel fresh, especially after a long day of running around but the overall result did not make a huge difference on the appearance of my already dull and tired looking skin (it's Monday! I have a good excuse).
I did notice however that I find myself reaching for the bottle a couple of times a day for a little bit of a 'wake up' spritz which I actually quite like so overall even though it doesn't make my skin glow and shine like I would want it too, I really like the elixir as a quick 'pick me up' solution during a long day.

Summer prep

I honestly haven't lost my mind , I'm aware that it's only 5 degrees outside and it's pissing down and miserable which meant forcing myself to try on summer clothes for my visit home next week was the last thing I felt like doing today.
In general getting dressed for summer is probably not something I really enjoy, I always feel much more comfortable with a couple of layers on and a pair of black tights and luckily British summers are perfect for that most of the time, however back home it's another story, with temperatures easily reaching 30c in March layering is not an option so I had to dig out some light items and base my outfits around two lightweight black cotton skirts that would work nicely with a t-shirt without too much messing around. I'll also probably add a couple of simple cotton LBD's that I can dress up or down to save space and avoid carrying too much weight (I hate overpacking!).
Now, the only item I wish I had was a nice pair of sandals which I have yet to find (there's plenty of options but nothing that I'm particularly excited about!) but I guess I'll be able to live for a few days without them.

Sports day

Sports day !!! This was the first thought that came to mind when I opened the parcel from Envii and had a look at its contents, it was definitely not sports a sports day for me but with all the running around I've been doing in the last few days I feel like a sporty outfit was in place.
I have to admit inspiration hasn't been a friend over the last couple of weeks when it comes to outfits, a combination of over working and general stressful happenings in my life are leaving completely exhausted at the moment so when it comes to getting dressed I only want what's comfortable and easy to wear and I think today was the perfect day for this dress to arrive as it was just what I was hoping for.
I mentioned last week that I was checking out the Envii website and found so many great looking basics so I decided to test the water and ordered this dress. The order processing times were a little slow if you're used to UK retailers but since it shipped from Denmark I think it was worth the wait! I'm really happy with it. After ordering I was a bit worried that the dress might be too sheer or to thin but I can honestly say the quality and fit are great so I think I'll be checking out Envii more often when I need to stock up on new basics! Overall I'm quite excited to wear this dress, it's so simple it really doesn't need any additions, just a nice pair of shoes and a couple of chunky metal bracelets and

Get the basics

Get the basics

I've been planning to stock up on some new basics for a while but I always end up holding off  my plans  to stock up on new basics because I see some other ridiculous item that catches my eye and decide it needs to be top priority. I admit , I'm not  very good when it comes to holding myself when I see something I like and it's usually the basics are the ones being neglected because of that, but recently I discovered Danish brand Envii and their online store and fell in love with their simple and basic items, probably a lot of it has to do with the nice selection of blue and grey items which I seem to have a slight obsession with lately but I absolutely love the stuff on the site and I'm seriously tempted to give this online store a try.
