old favourites

It dawned on me a few days ago that as my search for a new job is progressing , soon enough I might not be able to carry with my habit of wearing whatever I want to work. Most of the recent places that I sent my applications for are more corporate than the workplaces I worked in and to be honest, although it's still a long process somewhere inside I'm both excited and scared of the thought that I might need to rethink how I'm dressing for work. Thinking about this made me seek comfort in some old favourites hiding in my wardrobe. This outfit is nothing to write about home and I've featured all of those items previously, but those three items might be the best representation of what casual work attire means to me and I think that in the next few months while I keep looking for a job I'll try to go back to my old favourites more often so I can celebrate the freedom of wearing whatever I want to work as long as I can.

Monday surprises

There's nothing that makes me happier than getting a package from home , but I really wasn't prepared for what my mum put in the package I received this morning. When she told me a couple of weeks ago she's got a really special surprise in the post for me I was hoping for some sweets and snacks from back home but when I opened the package I got this morning I couldn't believe my eyes. The package included some of my favourites sweets but tucked neatly under layers of wrapping paper I found this Zara jacket and the Iro skirt I was planning to buy in the sales but decided it would be a little bit too much for my budget. I was so surprised with the contents of this package I almost felt like crying. Luckily I'm going to visit my family next month so I think I'll have to think of a nice way to pay back my mum for those insanely expensive treats she packed for me, she also let me on a little secret about where she found this skirt on a very heavy discount and promised we'll take a trip to check out the place when I'm on my holiday next month.

Snow ? What snow ?

Yes, I still haven't completely succumbed to the cold weather, well, I did fall for jumper dresses and leggings very briefly during the weekend and despite my annoying cold I still felt adventurous this morning, probably a ridiculous move I'll regret when I walk back home in the freezing cold, but at least I felt happier wearing this outfit. This is the sort of outfit that makes me feel good and I really needed to start the week feeling positive. So once I layered a dress a shirt and a biker jacket and a scarf, there was one thing I just couldn't get away from wearing, yes, it was the wellies, there was no way I could do my walk to work without them but at least I knew that once I get to the office I can put them under my desk until I leave. I think I might have found some balance after all without having to pile on thermals and sweaters to keep warm, but as usual I might be completely wrong!

Favourite summer looks, Iro - Spring/Summer 2013

Iro - Spring/Summer 2013

The winter doesn't look like it's going to end  any time soon and new pre-fall loobooks are slowly springing all over the interent but the thing that makes me happy the most at the moment is seeing new spring/summer lookbooks. This one by French label IRO has to be one of my favourite spring/summer lookbooks. I  love IRO , they've been my brand lust for some time now and I've been lucky in the past to snag some gorgeous IRO items so this lookbook really warms me up and makes me look forward to the summer, it's the perfect combination of cool and casual, gorgeous prints and luxe basics which I really love. So I think it's time to finish with all this winter business and bring on the summer !

Christmas eve ...

Christmas-eve outfit, simple and warm, just last few errands to run before everything shuts down, hoping the weather will get slightly better for Christmas day!
I had to have this lovely Iro dress repaired and got it back just in time for the holiday carefully repaired and cleaned, it's so nice to be able to wear it again after thinking I might need to say good bye to it after ripping some of the lining off accidentally.
If you're interested , you can still find this dress on the Outnet website,  it's prefect layered with a jumper and looks amazing on it's own or with a nice biker jacket.
Merry Christmas ! :)

Off the rails number one rule - Add a splash of colour

Jumper ZARA, Dress IRO, Coat ZARA
Everyone around me constantly complains I wear too much black - so when I need a splash of colour this dress by IRO is the one that always saves me.
I love the graphic print and the combination of greys, white, yellow. The perfect way for getting a little bit of colour without it being far too much.
