Are you going anywhere?

Probably due to my no so good memory, I managed to mix up some dates and realised that I've been invited to a friend's birthday dinner later tonight.
Luckily I'm working from home today which makes it easier to dive into my wardrobe and pick something despite the fact that I would prefer to stay at home in this freezing cold.
Last week I bought this peplum top from H&M , I'm not a fan of peplum at all but I thought this top can come in handy in times like this when I need a quick going out fix that doesn't require too much thinking. I actually really like this top mostly because it has a kind of relaxed fit rather than a structured one which is quite common with peplum tops but the thing I like the most about it are the leather look sleeves which make this black top a little more interesting. I decided to stick with the usual printed skirt, using this pattern skirt from Zara and paired my comfy pointy pair of flats and my small black bag from Zara which is becoming quite a regular in my outfits.
I can't say I'm madly excited about this outfit, nor am I overly excited about going out tonight but I'm satisfied because this outfit was definitely easy to pull together and I know that even though it will be freezing cold I'd still feel comfortable in this outfit when I go out.

Holiday festivities laziness

The combination of cold weather and recovering from a brutal flu are the main factor in my laziness over the last few days, whilst using the recovery excuse for layering more jumpers as a simple solution to dressing up in the morning, I'm know getting to the stage when I need to pull myself together and prepare myself to the festive dinners that I'll be attending over the next few days.
The Christmas dress has already done one round at the work Christmas-do and might be making an appearance again soon, but now all I want is something warm and comfy to help me pass the Christmas dinners I'm going to attend.
I once again decided to avoid any spending and decided to keep it simple on two occasions and teaming up a leather look skirt with the Topshop jumper I previously worn to my friend's birthday. The other jumper is one of my favourites, the sort of jumper that doesn't look too exciting but works so nicely with a leather look skirt. I've been lusting for this jumper from Sandro for ages and last month whilst on a layover in Amsterdam decided that it would be a great piece to invest in. I'm really happy with it, there wasn't a single item it didn't work with and my favourite is teaming it with a black skirt!
So there it is, too warm and comfy outfit options to help me survive more holiday festivities.

The day after last night - an adventure in dressing to go out

Going out jumper, skirt, handbag, topshop, MMM for H&M
Topshop jumper, leather look skirt, MMM for H&M bag

A few days ago my friend invited me to celebrate her 30th birthday, whilst we usually go out to our local pub for a couple of drinks this time it was a proper black and white themed birthday part with a room booked in a somewhat posh restaurant.
When I got the invitation I said 'no problem , dress in black , that's so easy' only to realise that I barely have any decent all black going out clothes.
In general whenever I go out I feel very under-dressed , I usually see girls dress all shiny and sparkly , big hair , huge heels whereas I always stick to what I consider comfortable. So after digging through my wardrobe and mixing and matching outfits I realised there was nothing I can consider  appropriate enough for a birthday party in a posh restaurant. That's when I decided to kill to birds in one go and get myself something I would also be able to wear for the holiday season and a never ending series of Christmas parties and dinners.

I was eyeing the studded Topshop jumper for a while but thought it might be a bit over the top for my usually casual and simple style so every time I passed next to Topshop I had to convince myself I really don't need this jumper, until the birthday outfit search started. For a couple of days I held myself from going to Topshop telling myself that I'll eventually find something nice and shiny in my wardrobe but yesterday I caved in and decided it's time to get hold of that jumper and on the way sort out at least one of my holiday season outfits.

So there it is , my fairly simple but slightly blingy festive outfit, teamed with a leather look skirt and the MMM for H&M handbag.
