Quiet before the storm

I seriously couldn't imagine how badly the day will end when I got up this morning and snapped this outfit. I was actually less grumpy than usual and decided to play 'getting dressed' rather than throw the first thing I found on myself.
It's been a terrible month for me with sad and shocking news pretty much becoming a regular occurrence over the last few weeks, and it seems like things are not looking better so for now I immerse myself into the world of fashion escapism to make things look a little better, I don't know where this will lead but the more trouble I have the more I become interested in trying new things out, whether it will take some of the pressure off, I don't know. I know I have bigger and greater things to focus on right now but it's just so easy to escape into this world of standing in front of the mirror and playing dress-up in time like these.

Monday is not a friend

I'm not going to start the discussion about Monday mornings, this photo is probably a good enough evidence of how a Monday morning feels, messy hair, trying to get dressed in partial darkness whilst trying to snap an outfit photo, even having another arm wouldn't help me to get myself organised on Monday morning. So today's outfit was mostly of the kind that can only be described as 'pick up whatever you spot and get on with it' , a random blue sweatshirt and a black skirt , the sort of lazy outfit that just screams 'oh no it's Monday' but I do love this random sweatshirt to which I added this necklace I got from &Other Stories which I love. I'm actually wearing it the wrong way around but I actually prefer it that way because I love the clasp detail on the back. Nothing brilliant there but it's Monday after all so there's still a long week ahead to make up for a slow and not very exciting start to the week.

Take me out

I was hoping I'll be able to skip my usual weather discussion but hello, what a sunny day it was ! A perfect excuse to get out to meet with my friends earlier today. Obviously it was also a great excuse to tuck away my winter coat for a few hours and try out the biker jacket from Zara that has been sitting and waiting for warmer days.
I chose to stick with my favourite combination for the moment which is black blue and white, blue is certainly growing on me from day to day so those are the items that catch my eye in an instant. When it was time for me to get ready I knew that this combination is what I wanted to wear. it's a simple outfit but I really loved the contrasts between the three colours and the print and more than anything I was absolutely excited about not having to wrap up extra layers to keep warm and just go out and enjoy the sunshine!

black and blue - round two

I think my slight interest in the combination of black and blue is slowly growing into a slight obsession. I decided to mix a couple of items my friend brought over the weekend to help me with my job interview outfit. The blue jumper was actually not planned to be part of any outfit as my friend was wearing it but the colour caught my eye and I couldn't stop thinking about it so eventually I asked my friend if we can do a trade , she picked up another item from my wardrobe and for the time being I'm the owner (or borrower) of this electric blue jumper which I absolutely adore.
I couldn't wait to wear it this morning, it was actually meant to be part of my job interview outfit but we felt it might be a little too 'relaxed' for a job interview so I finally had a chance to wear it today with a simple black skirt and this fuzzy bomber style jacket which I didn't really get a chance to wear this year. To spice it up a little I decided to skip my usual chunky shoes and wear a pointy pair of patent leather flats and a matching clutch. I was actually really happy with this outfit as it felt refreshing to play around with different items I usually don't wear or use very often and obviously I was quite excited to wear this jumper my friend lent me and I expect it to be a prominent guest in my outfits until my friend decides she wants it back !

The perfect shade of blue

I finally found it ! The perfect blue jumper ! I've been looking for one for a few weeks and the perfect one finally turned up!
I already mentioned that lately I've been overcoming my strange hang-ups about wearing blue and I was hoping to find a simple piece that can work well for me, this jumper (actually more of a sweatshirt) is just the right shade of blue in my opinion , it's actually quite a relief to find myself wearing a top that is not black or grey. Although very simple, wearing it today has really made me feel slightly more energetic. I guess I needed a break from all the blacks and greys and this jumper came in just on time to save me from the boring black jumper routine I've been stuck in recently. I wore the jumper with this black and white skirt and loved the contrast between them, it was not just the colours but also the texture , I was a little worried about this over load of colours and textures but at the end of the day it was a good and fun experiment. I'm guessing this jumper will become a regular on my posts as I just can't stop thinking of what other items it would look great with.

The blues and the greys - an experiment

fillipa k printed skirt, monki jumer
Jumper Monki , Skirt Fillipa K, Shoes Bershka
It was Monday's Whistles inspiration post that drove me to pull out some greys and blues from my wardrobe and try to mix them together. I don't really have anywhere to go at the moment as I'm sitting at home trying to battle a flu so I'm left with plenty of time for playing around. I had those two items in my wardrobe that I've been desperate to try out , the jumper from Monki was a recent purchase which was mean to be returned but I think I'm actually growing to like it although I'm still unsure if I'm a little colour blind or whether this is jumper is actually grey with a beige tone or whether I'm completely wrong and it's actually beige? Grey or not I kind of like it and thought it can work well with this printed Fillipa K skirt which I got months ago and never actually wore because of my usual doubts about anything that's blue. I'm actually quite happy about the pairing of those two items and wouldn't mind wearing these two with my studded shoes from Bershka for a bit of a rock n' roll sort of vibe. I only wish I wasn't stuck at home and it wasn't so cold outside as I would love to put this outfit on right now and go out for a walk.

It's time for the winter blues

Top COS , Skirts Pull and Bear , H&M , Scenario
As the days are getting colder I find it harder and harder to dress myself up in the morning, living in a cold and dark flat doesn't make winter mornings a fun experience and as usual getting ready for work is where this shows the most when it comes to dressing up or just taking a photo of an outfit I had in mind.
Today was no different, I had my mind set on wearing the blue top/sweatshirt from COS for days and just had to get it to work right but somehow couldn't.
Some people might think it's not such a big deal, but I've been avoiding blue garments for a long time, until I caved in and got this top a few months ago, mainly because I loved the contrasting collar.
I'm not sure where my issues with blue start, but I can only remember a discussion during  my high school days when the popular girls declared how wearing black and blue is so wrong, being a fan of black and adhering to the fashion 'tips' from the popular girls from high school stuck with me for years so I kept avoiding anything blue until recently when I realised I actually kind of like the black and blue combination, despite the fact it's one giant  fashion faux-pas according to some.
So there it goes, I got this top when it started getting colder and haven't had many opportunities to wear it so today I decided to give it a test run with the three skirts I thought would work best. My favourite look was the leather looking skirt paired with the top but as I was going to work I thought rocking that skirt might be a bit of an overkill for a casual work outfit so I stuck with the boucle like skirt from Pull and Bear which I have a strange love and hate relationship with, but that's probably a story for another time...
