Amazing winter to spring basics on sale now at COS

Amazing winter to summer basics on sale now at COS

A snowy January evening is probably the best time to scan through the last of the sales and find some great finds that can be carried on from Winter to Spring. Today I was browsing through the COS website to check out the preview of their new season collection and realised they still have a massive sale going. I already mentioned in the past how much I love the elegant pieces from COS but I didn't really check out the sale until today which made me realise they actually have some lovely pieces that can definitely serve as wonderful  transitional pieces and at 50% what can be better than some elegant and bright items to help banish just a little bit of the winter blues?
Here are some of my favourite pieces, I just hope they will still be there on pay day !

And if you'd like to have a sneek peek of what COS are preparing for the new season, check out this gorgeous video showcasing key pieces from the Spring/Summer 2013 collection.

It's time for the winter blues

As the days are getting colder I find it harder and harder to dress myself up in the morning, living in a cold and dark flat doesn't make winter mornings a fun experience and as usual getting ready for work is where this shows the most when it comes to dressing up or just taking a photo of an outfit I had in mind.
Today was no different, I had my mind set on wearing the blue top/sweatshirt from COS for days and just had to get it to work right but somehow couldn't.
Some people might think it's not such a big deal, but I've been avoiding blue garments for a long time, until I caved in and got this top a few months ago, mainly because I loved the contrasting collar.
I'm not sure where my issues with blue start, but I can only remember a discussion during  my high school days when the popular girls declared how wearing black and blue is so wrong, being a fan of black and adhering to the fashion 'tips' from the popular girls from high school stuck with me for years so I kept avoiding anything blue until recently when I realised I actually kind of like the black and blue combination, despite the fact it's one giant  fashion faux-pas according to some.
So there it goes, I got this top when it started getting colder and haven't had many opportunities to wear it so today I decided to give it a test run with the three skirts I thought would work best. My favourite look was the leather looking skirt paired with the top but as I was going to work I thought rocking that skirt might be a bit of an overkill for a casual work outfit so I stuck with the boucle like skirt from Pull and Bear which I have a strange love and hate relationship with, but that's probably a story for another time...

Plai-dead

So this is pretty much the time of the year when strange Christmas presents are starting to pour in from friends and relatives that live far away - and this is when I'll be presenting you with exhibit A - the plaid shirt.
Now I don't want to sound like an ungrateful little bitch but sometimes I feel that some people need to skip the torture of buying Christmas presents and just be nice and send a card, this plaid shirt is the perfect example of that.
I would hate to sound mean because the person who gifted it to me probably wanted to surprise me with something nice from one of my favourite shops. I also have nothing against plaid shirts, apart from the fact it's not my thing at all.
So I decided to say a big thanks to the lovely person who thought about me and took time to get me this shirt and try it on , to my surprise it wasn't terribly bad but I'm still a little unsure how or when I'll be wearing this but I'm happy to give it a chance.
The only idea I had so far was to tuck it into this skirt for a casual look , it actually works quite well but I guess I will have to work hard on convincing myself I can rock a checked red shirt, I mean if the headless girls on the Zara online store website can do it , I don't see a reason why I shouldn't.
