Out of the suitcase

Yes, it's the dreaded jacket again ! I'm finally at home with my family after a long day of missed flights and missed connections (thank you spring snow !) and one missing suitcase which means I have to rely on whatever I brought with me in my carry-on bag until my suitcase is tracked somewhere in Europe. Luckily , I know flight connections have a tendency to go wrong so I took a couple of items in my carry-on preparing for worst case scenario and I'm really glad I did.
I was expecting the weather to be really warm but it's actually a little chilly which means I have to rely on the only jacket I actually brought with me. The only two other lighter items I put in my carry on were a grey baseball style t-shirt and a wrap skirt from H&M and those are currently the only items I have but luckily they work together just fine although I'd be really sad if my suitcase is not going to be tracked down in the next few days but to be honest I can't complain now, I'm at home with my family , the weather is lovely and after last week which has been absolutely mad I really appreciate having some quiet time to relax and unwind .

I'll have the usual

I can't get away from talking about the weather in my posts, it feels like my posts cannot exist without a bit of a moan about the weather so here it goes.
I was fooled to think that the nice and sunny weather of the last few days might mean that we're finally starting to see the winter slowly coming to an end, obviously I've been overly optimistic in my assumptions as I woke up this morning to be greeted by dark and grey skies and a temperature of zero degrees.
It was obvious that it's time to start piling the layers back on which made me want to settle for something basic and warm. I decided to go for the faux leather skirt which I really love wearing on cold days, I suppose the synthetic material is doing a good job at keeping me warm . From there it was just a case of finding whatever would keep me warm and comfortable and with a wardrobe full of grey jumpers there wasn't much choice anyway but I was happy nonetheless knowing that I've packed myself well enough to keep warm and with the addition of my favourite pair of shoes and a small bag I set off for another day at work.
Despite my moans, I'm quite thankful for cold and gloomy days like today, sometimes it feels a lot easier to be satisfied with a simple and basic outfit knowing the only thing you really want is to be warm and comfortable without too much hassle.

A day of khaki and grey

Continuing my experiment of pulling out items from my 'summer' wardrobe this morning, I found this lovely and basic grey wrap skirt. I was quite surprised I tucked it with my summer wardrobe and forgot about it as it's such a perfect item for the winter! When I found it I felt like I hit the jackpot, I know it's just a simple grey skirt but I remembered how much I loved wearing it last summer. I thought about how perfect it would look with just a simple black jumper and a couple of chunky necklaces or bracelets but then I was tempted to try it on with a khaki shirt for the sake of experimenting and I have to admit I loved the result, unfortunately the photos don't do those two items justice but it's a great basic outfit, and although there's nothing ground breaking about it I think it's a perfect for a casual day at work. I'm really happy I'm enjoying playing around with items I've forgotten about it makes me appreciate them again and keeps me from getting into this magic circle of 'I have nothing to wear, I need to go shopping'. It's such a relief sometimes to know that there's some lovely items just waiting to be worn again in new way to help with finding  some inspiration in the wardrobe and not in the shops!

Sports day

Sports day !!! This was the first thought that came to mind when I opened the parcel from Envii and had a look at its contents, it was definitely not sports a sports day for me but with all the running around I've been doing in the last few days I feel like a sporty outfit was in place.
I have to admit inspiration hasn't been a friend over the last couple of weeks when it comes to outfits, a combination of over working and general stressful happenings in my life are leaving completely exhausted at the moment so when it comes to getting dressed I only want what's comfortable and easy to wear and I think today was the perfect day for this dress to arrive as it was just what I was hoping for.
I mentioned last week that I was checking out the Envii website and found so many great looking basics so I decided to test the water and ordered this dress. The order processing times were a little slow if you're used to UK retailers but since it shipped from Denmark I think it was worth the wait! I'm really happy with it. After ordering I was a bit worried that the dress might be too sheer or to thin but I can honestly say the quality and fit are great so I think I'll be checking out Envii more often when I need to stock up on new basics! Overall I'm quite excited to wear this dress, it's so simple it really doesn't need any additions, just a nice pair of shoes and a couple of chunky metal bracelets and

The blues and the greys - an experiment

fillipa k printed skirt, monki jumer
Jumper Monki , Skirt Fillipa K, Shoes Bershka
It was Monday's Whistles inspiration post that drove me to pull out some greys and blues from my wardrobe and try to mix them together. I don't really have anywhere to go at the moment as I'm sitting at home trying to battle a flu so I'm left with plenty of time for playing around. I had those two items in my wardrobe that I've been desperate to try out , the jumper from Monki was a recent purchase which was mean to be returned but I think I'm actually growing to like it although I'm still unsure if I'm a little colour blind or whether this is jumper is actually grey with a beige tone or whether I'm completely wrong and it's actually beige? Grey or not I kind of like it and thought it can work well with this printed Fillipa K skirt which I got months ago and never actually wore because of my usual doubts about anything that's blue. I'm actually quite happy about the pairing of those two items and wouldn't mind wearing these two with my studded shoes from Bershka for a bit of a rock n' roll sort of vibe. I only wish I wasn't stuck at home and it wasn't so cold outside as I would love to put this outfit on right now and go out for a walk.

Almost back to normal

Jacket H&M, Jumper New Look Men, Skirt Maison Scotch

Christmas day has gone and boxing day is upon us, whilst some people will be rushing into the shops to nab some sale items, I'm getting ready to meet some friends for a nice pub lunch , the best thing is that I can try out some of my sale buys as obviously I couldn't hold myself and did some shopping the sales that started before Christmas.
Today the weather is surprisingly nice so means I don't have to layer up a ton of thermals and jumpers to feel warm. I really wanted to try out the Maison Scotch skirt I got in the Asos sale and thought of wearing it with just a button down shirt but changed my mind and decided to go with a simple grey jumper and a thick biker jacket on top to make sure I'm still warm enough.
My friend has asked me to meet her for a walk around the shops before we head to the pub but to be honest I'm not too thrilled about this so trying to prepare myself mentally for the madness, luckily last month's expenses would mean I will be keeping away from any unexpected purchases. I'm sort of happy I prepared a list and now have all of the items I really wanted.
Hopefully everyone will have a lovely Boxing Day, whether for shopping or just hanging out with friends and family :)

Secret Santa

My friends and I have a small Christmas tradition of meeting up the weekend before Christmas to exchange our Secret Santa presents. One of the main rules apart from the budget is to make sure the present would actually be useful as we all agreed years ago that giving someone a present they won't use is a bit of a waste of money and slightly annoying.
We also do the Secret Santa raffle months in advance so we have enough time to think of a nice gift for each other which is one of the best things as everyone gets something really nice.
Yesterday we met up at the local pub for drinks and a festive gift exchange and this skirt was the present I got from my Secret Santa ! I was actually really over the moon getting a skirt as a secret Santa present, honestly I can't think of anything else that I would be happy with, I love wearing skirts and having a new skirt for Christmas makes me happy.
This one is kind of unusual which makes me like it even more and I can't wait to wear it as it would be such a  great skirt to wear with a simple black jumper which is probably my current favourite combination when it comes to casual outfits.

Monday laziness attacks

I Could not get up this morning , just couldn't , it was raining and so dark even for the relatively late time I
 usually wake up at.
I felt so lazy , dragging myself out of bed and trying to get dressed, I only wanted to reach for the simplest items I could find.
The white shirt used to be a staple in my wardrobe but in the last few months it found it's way to the black hole in the back of my wardrobe and been replaced by warm grey and black jumpers.
I decided that today a change would be good and thought teaming the white shirt with this shiny bouclĂ© skirt can make the outfit feel a little more cheerful on this grey and cold day, teamed with the Zara coat it was a perfect way to brighten an otherwise grim Monday morning.
