Ray of light

Ray of light

The theme of the past few weeks was a bit gloomy, the weather is horrible, getting to work is a nightmare and in general , fashion isn't on top of my list of priorities but slowly and surely new season collection are creeping into the shops and somewhere between all of the doom and gloom there are a few rays of light coming from the high-street and one of them is brought to us by COS, it's quite obvious I'm a huge fan as I mentioned my love for COS so many times before , but this season more than previously I'm excited by the new collection mainly because unlike many other high-street retails who seem to be riding high on the wave of pleats and mid-riff baring tops, COS actually produce an elegant and wearable collections that touch all of the trends without making you feel like a fashion victim. I mentioned before that I have yet to see any new season collection on the high-street that got me excited, luckily I can trust COS to produce a collection that I can actually get excited about because I can actually wear some of it without feeling like an idiot. So thank you COS for being a trusty fashion saviour in this mad trend-lead fashion world, this is my ray of light on this dark and gloomy February day and I can't wait to get my hands on some of these brilliant pieces.

The fashion snore

The fashion snore

My lack of posts recently can only be explained by the fact I have now officially entered that phase of the year which I call the 'fashion snore', I experience this every winter just after Christmas when the shops are still full of last season's sale items and all you wish for is to see something bright and new that hints that in a few months time spring will come. By now my fashion snore situation is so bad that I can't even look at myself in the mirror in the morning after I get dressed simply because I know that seeing myself wearing that black roll neck again might send me back straight to bed.
To keep it short, I'm feeling a bit fed up with my dark wardrobe, the same boring black dresses and solid jumpers that I've become so used to in the last few months, I just feel that I'm in an urgent need of a colour and print injection but deep inside I know I'm not brave enough to make that switch yet, so I find myself scouring the internet for the most eye-popping prints and colours in a hope of finding something that will finally help me conquer my craving for a little bit of colour and print and save me from this fashion snore.

Not a sequin in sight

Not a sequin in sight

The countdown has begun, the Christmas lights are on and the shops are starting to fill with all sorts of sparkly and sequiny 'holiday' outfits that make me want to scream. Luckily this year I'm skipping most of the holiday festivities, but I'm still faced with on pre-Christmas wedding and a work-do, so braced myself , took a deep breath and picked up a few slightly different and potential holiday outfit gems from Cos and &Other stories that still look incredible without even one sequin in sight. Here's for a simple and chic holiday outfit!

Boy's choice

Boy's choice

I'm having a bit of a sleepless night, I should have been in bed and asleep about 2 hours ago ahead of an early train journey tomorrow but instead of crawling into bed I found myself browsing the men's section at COS and it's not because I'm looking to buy anything for a guy, I just love a great men's jumper and accessories and the men's collection at COS has certainly caught my eyes with some great pieces I would totally love to wear myself. I would totally love to try some of those on in my next visit to COS!

Minimal Metal

I mentioned in the past that I like to keep it simple when it comes to jewelry , I have a few items which I usually play around with, some day I'll go for a few chunky bracelets, on other days I'll go for the two silver chain necklaces I have and usually I'm quite happy with that but I really wanted something basic and minimal so when I came across this necklace and ring at COS , I knew I found exactly what I'm looking for. The necklace is really small and looks delicate over a dark solid coloured top and the ring is actually the complete opposite , it's quite big and noticeable but I think those two are actually a perfect match that would be a great little finishing touch to a simple and casual outfit.

Amazing winter to spring basics on sale now at COS

Amazing winter to summer basics on sale now at COS

A snowy January evening is probably the best time to scan through the last of the sales and find some great finds that can be carried on from Winter to Spring. Today I was browsing through the COS website to check out the preview of their new season collection and realised they still have a massive sale going. I already mentioned in the past how much I love the elegant pieces from COS but I didn't really check out the sale until today which made me realise they actually have some lovely pieces that can definitely serve as wonderful  transitional pieces and at 50% what can be better than some elegant and bright items to help banish just a little bit of the winter blues?
Here are some of my favourite pieces, I just hope they will still be there on pay day !

And if you'd like to have a sneek peek of what COS are preparing for the new season, check out this gorgeous video showcasing key pieces from the Spring/Summer 2013 collection.

Post-Holiday Recovery

It's back to work time, after an eventful and long weekend of festivities it's time to head back to the office.
Somehow I'm actually happy and relived to be at work , I love getting back to work after Christmas although waking up in the dark to the sound of rain thumping on my windows wasn't really the kick of motivation I was hoping for. Still I managed to get out of bed early enough to actually try and dress myself properly for work today which made me happy as I was determined that I won't be piling on thermals and jumpers and picked up a shiny boucle skirt and blue contrast collar top. When I bought the contrast collar top my biggest worry was that I will have a hard time fitting it in to my wardrobe , I was never into blue colours but surprisingly I always manage to come up with a reasonable outfit when I wear this top , which is not bad at all considering it's pretty much the first blue items I ever bought. So now it's time for me to move and try and focus on some work, luckily , we're treated with a few extra days off for the New Year so a long weekend is just around the corner!

If Santa is real he would bring me a bag full of COS

If Santa is real he would ring me a bag full of COS

Because when it comes to the perfect basics there is no place like COS.
When it comes to investing in basics COS is the place I would go to because I have never had any of my purchases there fail me and I've been wearing some of their jumpers for over 3 years now, not something you'd usually expect from a hight street store.

So please the Santa , be nice and pack a little bag for me with from COS treats.

Give me texture

Zara jacquard skirt, COS sweatshirt
Skirt ZARA,  Sweatshirt COS
This season I seem to have become obsessed with textured garments, mainly skirts.
I'm usually a dress person but I seem to have accumulated a respectable amount of skirts. I do see a lot more in them than just skirts.Sometimes they feel more like jewellery pieces to me when I just want to be comfortable and throw on a simple jumper, a skirt always comes in handy to make a simple outfit slightly more exciting and this skirt from Zara is just the perfect addition, it looks incredible paired with just a simple jumper or sweatshirt for a day to day look and would probably look just as incredible teamed up with something slightly more sophisticated on a night out.
