All the same, all over again ...

You can tell I'm obsessed with an item of clothing when I find any excuse to wear it and at the moment it's this jacket, I wore it earlier this week for work with a white shirt and since today I was feeling a little lazy I decided that it'll be the perfect companion for this Isabel Marant for H&M tee. This jacket is one of those items that I know I'll keep wearing for a long time because it just goes with pretty much anything and can be the sort of item that you'll reach for when you just can't think of anything interesting and yes, being a lazy dresser means that an item like this gets all the points.
My mum told me years ago that there are certain pieces you'll buy that will stick with you for a long time without you even realising as long as they're simple and can be dressed up and down without too much effort and looks like this jacket, although so thin and basic and bought at H&M is one of those that I'll wear in and out until it falls apart.

A different perspective

It's probably been about 6 months since I started this blog, when I started it I had very different ideas on what I want to focus on and how I want things to look, but has time went by I started looking at things differently , it was partially to do with the blog, partially to do with the awful winter and partially because I felt I was lacking inspiration.
This morning was the perfect time to try and do things differently, I was thinking for a while about changing the way I take photos, I made a couple attempts in the past switching from one style to the other. I'm not a good photographer , I do enjoy taking photos but can't say I'm any good. However I did want my outfit posts to look a little more lively and this morning as I was getting ready to go and meet a friend for coffee (in the snow, in the middle of March!) , I decided to take out the tripod that was left in my apartment when I moved in and try and capture a different view of my outfit to see if I can master slightly more organised outfit photos. I suppose it worked, I'm not too happy with the end result but I'm going to post it any way just as note to myself which I'll hopefully look at in a few months to see how things have changed.
I'm still not sure which direction this will take me but I enjoyed experimenting with something a little different and might try to play around more often with how I take my photos. I guess I needed a bit of a change, so please bear with me whilst I try to figure out what's the next step for me.

Off to work

Today was one of those rare occasion in which I had to step it up a little for work. On most days I'm pretty much free to wear what I want but every once in a while it's the sort of day that requires to tone it down or polish it up a little and get into 'business attire' mode.  Luckily this time I had a chance to wear this cool jacket I borrowed from my friend. I actually borrowed it as more of a casual item but decided to use it today  as an addition to a simple black dress for a slightly more classic look. I'm kind of loving it how it turned out although the photos aren't really showing that , it's actually the sort of outfit I can definitely see myself wearing more often for work as recently I've been trying to get my outfits to be slightly more 'grown up' or 'serious' although so far not very successfully so this jacket and this outfit as a whole might be a slight sign of a new direction which I'm slowly trying to figure out.

What I thought I'd never wear - the varsity jacket

This week was probably one of the toughest I had recently, one of those weeks in which everything seems to go wrong and just escalate and along with the gloomy and cold weather, it pretty much left me feeling uninspired and exhausted which meant it's was just one of those weeks in which getting dressed seemed to be the lowest in the list of priorities.
Luckily , it's all over at least for now and whilst I'm still feeling quite exhausted I decided that more than anything I should at least try to pull myself together when I get dressed this morning. Luckily, I had this lovely new jacket to be excited about, and it was a  jacket of the sort I never thought I'd wear!
The idea of a varsity style jacket was definitely not something that I thought I would go for or could see myself wearing, it was just something that I always associated with high-school team sports and not fashion but then I saw this jacket at River Island  and decided I'll take the plunge and try it on. I thought it didn't feel like the sort of varsity jacket that would be too much in your face, I actually  thought it would be an item that can be a fun addition to a casual outfit and I'm really happy I tried it on despite my initial hesitance. The fit is really great and it actually doesn't look overly sporty and not too oversized or puffy as some varsity style jackets are and I actually have to give River Island some props as I realised that some of my favourite jackets are from there and this one is definitely a new addition I'm excited about.

Get the basics

Get the basics

I've been planning to stock up on some new basics for a while but I always end up holding off  my plans  to stock up on new basics because I see some other ridiculous item that catches my eye and decide it needs to be top priority. I admit , I'm not  very good when it comes to holding myself when I see something I like and it's usually the basics are the ones being neglected because of that, but recently I discovered Danish brand Envii and their online store and fell in love with their simple and basic items, probably a lot of it has to do with the nice selection of blue and grey items which I seem to have a slight obsession with lately but I absolutely love the stuff on the site and I'm seriously tempted to give this online store a try.

Always last minute

Trying to pull myself out of bed after three nights of pre-holiday festivities wasn't easy but I still had some few last bits of shopping and gift wrapping to do today before going back to bed for a well deserved rest.
I took advantage of the fact it stopped raining decided to go for a few simple items for my mad dash for the last few hours of Christmas shopping.
I chose my Topshop biker jacket and teamed it with a white button up and a boucle skirt, for the final touch I wore my new Kurt Geiger shoes which I got in the sales and topped it all up with my coat (yes I like to layer up and keep warm...)

So here it is , what is probably my last outfit before the holiday officialy starts.

Break my head

H&M skirt, jumper and studded jacket from Ebay
H&M skirt, H&M man jumper, Studded jacket from Ebay
Fridays are great, just great, it's the end of the week, work is getting a little less hectic and everyone is looking forward to that nice cold pint at the end of the day.
When it comes to dressing myself to work it's another story, usually Friday is the day I allow myself to spend a little extra time under the duvet which results in me getting up five minutes before it's time to leave. This also means that any plans to wear anything decent (in case I'll unexpectedly end up having drinks somewhere nice after work) go out of the window and I find myself reaching out to whatever is laying nearest, this morning was one of those Fridays.

I had an outfit in mind the minute I got out of bed, I thought the studded jacket can help to spark an otherwise boring jumper and skirt combo but the minute I put it on I decided I hate it, eventually I picked up this green and black textured skirt from H&M and a grey jumper and teamed it with the studded jacket. Am I happy with this combo? No but it's great as it would be just one of those reminders that it might be good to get up a little earlier and think twice before I get dressed.
